Inspired by mythical periods and places in dance music history – David Mancuso’s The Loft, the Amnesia Terrace, Anjuna Beach, and Panorama Bar in the modern day – PARAMIDA loves to play music that delicately spans across genres and eras. The Panorama Bar resident is a confident, talented, and boundary-pushing artist in a city whose musical rules are begging to be broken.
PARAMIDA’s style is playful yet sincere, purposeful and hopeful, and, of course, always with a dash of the cosmic. Blending proto-house with trance, percussive gold with high-energy techno, Italian dream house, and irresistible new beat, she is truly committed to digging for treasure across genres and eras. PARAMIDA is not content to just pay homage to the past – with her label Love On The Rocks celebrating its 10-year anniversary, she’s bringing the dusty corners of outsider dance culture into the present day.
Her singular thirst for incredible music has led her to bookings at the world’s most renowned nightclubs, including a residency at Berghain’s Panorama Bar. In 2020, PARAMIDA focused on producing her own music, releasing her debut EP Dream Ritual on LOTR followed by her second EP Moonrise VII. Additionally, her track ‘Konbanwa (Ibiza Mix)’ was featured on the compilation Sounds From The Iranian Ultraverse and she has also delivered a rambunctious remix for Hercules & The Love Affair. In 2023, she contributed a track to Phonica’s 20th-anniversary compilation alongside E-Talking.
PARAMIDA isn’t confined to just DJing and producing – she’s a fervent advocate for music and its history. Last year, she showcased her unique style and storytelling during her BBC Radio 1 residency, was featured in Vogue magazine, and earned a nomination for the prestigious BBC 100 Women list. She has managed to position herself in the European cultural landscape and establish her leadership in the space without assistance from the industry and without adhering to its rules. Not only has she been challenging gender norms in the male-dominated music and nightlife industry, but she has also been defying cultural restrictions for women of Iranian descent long before the protests erupted in Tehran in 2022.
2024 promises to be an exciting year for PARAMIDA, with a BBC documentary and BBC Essential and Fabric mixes, all scheduled for release on International Women’s Day. Furthermore, her 10-year Love On The Rocks anniversary 2LP compilation and her debut album, are set for release later this year. These projects will be supported by specially curated Love On The Rocks events at Panorama Bar as well as festival showcases and global tours.
Devoted to the euphoric potential of nightlife, PARAMIDA is one of dance music’s true characters; a passionate proponent of music and music history, a devoted resident, and, quite simply, a DJ always worth hearing
